The Commission for A New Georgia
Administrative Services Task Force

The Task Force examined the cost and quality of public programs that deliver mental health and developmental assistance in communities.

The team sought out successful community care programs and identified best practices to deliver the highest quality at the lowest cost. The Task Force conducted a wide range of public hearings, agency meetings, and interviews with service providers to determine the primary problems in the current system.

Recommendations identified specific steps in a systematic transformation to eliminate disparities in mental health services and provide access to early intervention.


RECOMMENDATIONS:

Supplement Funding through Service Fees
Establish a fee-for-service provider system.

Require Proven Methods
Require the use of evidence based/best outcome practices.

Competitive CSB/Provider Environment
Develop an open, competitive CSB/provider environment

Greater Accountability
Establish greater accountability for outcomes and performance
.

Increased Funding through Efficiency
Provide appropriate utilization of the state hospital system and reinvest saved dollars into community care
.

Single System of Care
Establish a Single System of Care for children and adolescents
.

Intervention for Prison Population
Develop an effective intervention program for the MH/AD needs of the adult offender population
.
