The Commission for A New Georgia

Administrative Services Task Force

The COMMISSION for A NEW GEORGIA was established as an independent council of top-level executives from all parts of Georgia, which acted as a “real-world consultant” to state government on management and performance.

Appointed by Governor Perdue, Commission members brought fresh eyes and ideas to ways government could manage assets and operations to increase efficiency, reduce costs and improve service.

From 2003-2010 , the Commission launched 24 fast-track task forces to analyze a wide range of government functions. Altogether, nearly 400 Georgians from private enterprise and consultants from the nation’s top management firms served on the fact-finding, problem-solving teams.

The task forces produced 130 actionable recommendations for cost savings and customer service in government and new opportunities for a growing economy.

Ninety-eight percent of CNG recommendations have been put into effect through the Governor's Office of Implementation.

The Commission’s operation and small staff were privately funded, and all CNG members, task force participants, and consultants contributed their services pro bono.
