The Commission for A New Georgia
Competitiveness Task Force

The Competitiveness Task Force assessed Georgia’s assets as an attractive choice for corporations to locate and the state’s organization and efforts to recruit and retain businesses that will drive economic growth for the long-term future.

Some of the issues within the Task Force's scope included:

-Communications and collaboration among economic development entities in targeted recruitment efforts
-The role of financial incentives in closing the deal
-How Georgia is marketing itself to the venture capital community and enhancing its intellectual capital.


RECOMMENDATIONS:

New Governor's Cabinet
Create Governor's Cabinet for Economic and Workforce Development comprised of relevant agency heads to coordinate the state's prospect process.

Incentives for Strategic Industries
Focus financial incentives on industries as strategic to Georgia's growth.

Attract & Maintain Business Investors
Develop and enact a plan to attract and maintain business investors and ideas and research in Georgia.
